Bears Coach Marc Trestman living up to QB Whisperer hype

I joked all summer that your Chicago Bears telecast drinking game is: ” Marc Trestman is a quarterback whisperer.” I also would accept ” Marc Trestman is a QB guru.” Yes, we’re hearing it all the time from local and national media, but it is warranted. Marc Trestman is as good as advertised when it comes to developing quarterbacks.

Are you concerned about when Jay Cutler comes back? Don’t be too worried, things will be fine with Trestmania in effect. But lets get our #CuttyDoesIt injury update out of the way first.

Jay initially targeted the Dec. 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings as his return date, “but now he really don’t know.”

Jay Cutler at Halas Hall yesterday: “There’s a couple ligaments that we’re a little bit worried about that’s different than a normal high ankle sprain.”

CBS Analyst Phil Simms: “If I could be a quarterback for any coach in professional football, with no hesitation, I would take ( Marc Trestman ) as a coach, along with Matt Cavanaugh, the quarterbacks coach. And I want to run their offense. It’s so clear, so precise. Jay Cutler was playing exceptionally well. And now we see Josh McCown – he knows what he’s doing every play. You can tell there’s a calmness about him. Why are they so calm? Because they are prepared and they feel good about what they’re doing going into the game. (The Bears) protect the quarterback.”

Rich Gannon on Marc Trestman: I think he’s a terrific football coach. I had the opportunity to go there and spend a day with the Bears and the quarterbacks. I was very impressed with not just Marc, but that whole quarterback room… (Josh McCown) said that the thing that has impressed him the most is Marc’s poise. What Marc talks about on Wednesday and Thursday usually happens on Sunday. And when it doesn’t, he doesn’t panic. He doesn’t scrap the game plan. He stays the course.”
