CBS rejects wholesome SFW Super Bowl XLVII ad made by porn website (video)

Super Bowl broadcasting network CBS blocked a proposed multi-million dollar commercial from Pornhub.com, an online destination for adult entertainment. The G-rated commercial features a fully-clothed elderly couple sitting on a park bench before the Pornhub logo is revealed towards the end of the web-shortened 20 second spot. The safe-for-work ad was released on YouTube earlier this week.

Despite including no sexually-explicit content a CBS spokesperson offered this brief response via email to the website’s proposal: “CBS Television Network Standards do not permit advertising related to pornography. Therefore, we cannot accept your submission.”

Pornhub Vice President Corey Price said the commercial was less controversial than many others featured during the Super Bowl in recent years. (a lot of the Go Daddy ads come to mind; so does the Janet Jackson halftime show)

“The Super Bowl is the Holy Grail of ad spots and given our website’s huge following in the US, we developed a G-rated commercial that we felt would meet the network’s advertising standards,” stated Corey Price, Vice President of Pornhub. “We would understand their decision if the commercial contained sexually explicit or offensive content that wasn’t safe for the family-friendly telecast. But there is nothing controversial about it, so we’ve released the commercial online to let the people of America voice their opinions.”

The G-Rated commercial (watch below – safe for work) received more than 470,000 views on YouTube in 24 hours before the site took down the initial posted video.

In response, the company completed a secondary upload of the clip to their YouTube page, which you can see below. Previously, organizations such as PETA, Bud Light and Go Daddy caused controversy after airing what were later deemed either politically, racially or sexually insensitive commercials during the Super Bowl.
