Drew Brees has had an amazing career. However, he may have reached the end of the line with the New Orleans Saints. He’s now on the wrong side of 36, and NOLA might be looking elsewhere. The gluten intolerant signal caller has not seen any drop-off in his gamr however. He just finished the season as the NFL’s passing leader for a record sixth time.
Not even Brett Favre, John Elway, Dan Marino or Peyton Manning have ever accomplished that.
However, Brees’ Saints career could be over, as well as that of his coach, Sean Payton.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and head coach Sean Payton:
“It is very possible that Drew Brees and Sean Payton will be together for the final time today. From what I understand, Drew Brees needs to take a paycut from his $30 million cap hit in the 2016 season to stay with the Saints. Otherwise, he will most likely be the most attractive quarterback out there. The likelihood increases of him leaving if Sean Payton does so as well. Keep an eye on the San Francisco 49ers as far as that goes.”
Damn right Drew Brees would be the best QB out there. Field generals like him almost never reach the open market.
FOX’s Jay Glazer reported this about Payton:
“if Sean Payton is out in New Orleans, he will be linked to the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers.”
And Terry Bradshaw added:
“I would absolutely give up a 2nd round pick for Payton. I think if Mickey Loomis, who is also the general manager for the Pelicans in New Orleans as well as the Saints, moves over and just takes over the Pelicans job, then that would be the case for Payton staying with the Saints.
