Percy Harvin was one of the biggest trending topics over the weekend. Certainly when it comes to NFL discussion. All the Sunday morning talk shows were on him, and understandably so. But maybe NFL Today’s Boomer Esiason on CBS had the hottest take of all the hot takes (because “malcontent” is such as awesome word):
BOOMER ESIASON: “For me, it’s “Percy Day” over at Met Life Stadium. Who is Percy Harvin?”
“He says he’s not going to change. I’m going to tell you who he is? He’s a malcontent. He drops passes. He’s not a great wide receiver, he’s underdeveloped and this just in time for Halloween here in New York for the Jets. Stick him in that Jet locker room and see what happens. It’s going to be absolutely insane here in New York for this young man. His third team in three years.”
Going to CBS’ broadcast partner NFL Network. Here’s NFLN’s Ian Rapoport on how the New York Jets plans to use Percy Harvin:
“The short answer is everywhere. I talked to Jets receiver Eric Decker this week about Percy Harvin the newest addition, a player that clearly has the locker room buzzing. What Decker told me is you will see him on handoffs, reverses, crossing routes – anything to get Percy Harvin the ball in his hands. As Decker said, he can take a five-yard catch and take it 70. We know Percy Harvin is fast. We also know that he has impressed his new teammates with that speed; as Decker told me, we have some track guys on the team, we have some guys who think they are fast and they turned to me and they said, ‘Damn, he is fast.’ He makes everything look so easy, they really can’t believe it seeing it in person. Decker told me this is something we definitely need on offense to open things up for everyone.”
