Gary, thanks for the comment. I can agree with your sentiment, but will offer a bit more insight. Ayers is a mid first round talent that I foresee falling into the lower third of the first round, there are four areas of need that the Vikings should consider with their first pick in the draft: O-Line, D-Line, WR and Defensive Back (specifically- Safety). A pick for D-line with the first pick is a pick that makes the team's strength stronger, Ayers can possibly be the guy that will succeed where other first rounders (Erasmus James, Kenechi Udeze) haven't. As for other possible picks I considered for the Vikings, Percy Harvin and Max Unger seem to be the other candidates. Harvin could be great in purple (disclaimer: I'm a Vikings fan) but for some reason I'm not confident that Childress would take him, let alone know what to do with him. Unger would provide the same type of benefits to the offensive unit that Ayers would to the defense - depth, a chance to develop, potentially be great. Head to head, Ayers is a better value therefore that was why I had the Vikings selecting him. I hope I've dispelled any disappointment, thanks for reading!

Considering the needs of the team, I found your analysis and selection of Minnesota's pick to be disappointing. Your write-up as for why they would take him sounds more like a 3rd round selection than a first.
