Tomorrow is your chance to take a stand in Solidarity Against White Supremacy, a new Chicago grouping of civil rights and community organizations.
WHAT: Rally and march to oppose neo-fascist organizing
WHEN: Sunday, August 27, 2 pm CST, as San Francisco and Berkeley, CA are hit by hate rallies
WHERE: Federal Plaza – Intersection of Dearborn & Adams, Chicago
WHY: In continuing fallout from the murder of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville, VA by an avowed neo-fascist, the country continues to be roiled by neo-fascist hate rallies as President Trump refuses to definitively disavow his “alt right” supporters, despite their embrace of fascist slogans and regalia.
On Saturday and Sunday, August 26 and 27, neo-fascist organizers say they will assemble in San Francisco and Berkeley, respectively. Chicago’s rally and march beginning at 2 pm (CST) on Sunday, August 27 is in solidarity with the anti-hate protests that will oppose the neo-fascists on the West Coast.
The event, entitled Solidarity Against White Supremacy, will begin at Federal Plaza, corner of Adams and Dearborn Streets, and march to near Trump Tower, corner of Wabash and Wacker Avenues.
Solidarity Against White Supremacy is part of the National Weekend of Solidarity, a national effort to show support for community members planning to protest hate groups and other racists in San Francisco and Berkeley on the weekend of August 26-27. The rally comes in the wake of the Charlottesville violence and the inability of officials like President Trump and Governor Bruce Rauner to properly condemn it.
