Every NBA season has its best players, and this season is no different. Everybody who talks about the NBA has, at one point, referred to a great player as a top-10 or top-five guy. That term is safe to use during the season because there’s no official list of the best players currently in the NBA (until the end of the season when the all NBA teams are released).
Many basketball fans all over the world are already trying their luck with free bets to pick best players in the game this season. That’s why we went through statistics as well as results and came up with our own version of top players in this season.
Take a look!
Paul George, Indiana Pacers
Paul George has carried the Indiana Pacers throughout the entire year, and has been fantastic this season. George has actually done a little bit of everything for them.
His field goal percentage is a bit low, but some of that comes from the high volume of threes. He’s currently ninth in the NBA in points per game, which is impressive given the efficiency of his shots.
Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors
Kyle Lowry and backcourt bud DeMar DeRozan are leading a very talented Raptors team right now, but Lowry is doing most of the work at the moment. His efficiency this season has been really incredible. Lowry is taking seven three-point attempts per game and making just a touch less than 40 percent of them. There are currently only three players in the NBA achieving that.
DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings
DeMarcus Cousins, known as Boogie, would have easily made this list last season too. Since then, he added a three-point stroke to his game despite being the best post scorer in the NBA. Demarcus now takes more than three shots per game from beyond the arc, and he’s draining nearly 35 percent of them.
That’s lowered his field goal percentage a bit, but adding an extra dimension never hurts a player’s overall game.
Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
No surprises here: Kevin Durant is still one of the best players in the game. Durant is one of the best scorers to ever play in the NBA, and his smooth jumper looks as good as ever in 2016. He does more than just score, but his shooting is what makes Kevin Durant truly amazing. Durant is right on the edge of a 50/40/90 season, generally regarded as the pinnacle of shooting efficiency.
He’s doing it while scoring 28 points per game, which is good enough for third in the NBA in scoring.
Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs
Kawhi Leonard might never get the attention he deserves. Part of that comes from the all-business attitude of his San Antonio Spurs, and Kawhi just being a low-key guy in general.
His numbers, however, are way up from low-key.
Kawhi is arguably the best defender in the NBA, and also scores nearly 21 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 46 percent from three-point range. His offensive game has matured rapidly and makes him one of the best players in the world.
Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Curry is most probably the best shooter the NBA has ever seen, and he’s close to completing the best offensive season in league history. His scoring totals aren’t unmatched, but his efficiency is unlike anything seen before right now. Steph has a 50/40/90 season and he’s leading the NBA in scoring, and also adding 6.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game.
Well deserved 1st place on our list.
