Kentucky Wildcats basketball doesn’t just dominate the McDonald’s All-American Game, the SEC and the NCAA Tournament.
NBA Draft night is always their night as well.
“It’s graduation day for my child,” John Calipari says at the event, during the 30 for 30 film “One and Not Done.”
“He wouldn’t miss NBA Draft night, it’s like a holiday,” former Wildcat and current Phoenix Sun Devin Booker expounds in the documentary. This Draft, it’s all about three Wildcats, De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo, all of whom might end up getting selected in the top 10. Let’s take a look at where all three might be going come draft night.
ESPN has recently slashed a lot of their top tier talent, and the cuts hit the college basketball department especially hard.
FRASCHILLA: “With Bam, I would say that draft experts, draft blog guys had him too high coming into college, and now they have him too low. given the NBA right now and the dearth of low-post scorers, when you put a great play maker out there with three shooters like a lot of teams are doing in the Playoffs, Bam has to show that he can run the floor, which we give him a check for, that he can rebound, that we give him a check for, and that he can screen and run to the rim and catch lobs, which we give him a check for.
So if he can do all three of those — if teams are convinced that he can do those things, then he’ll have a place in the league for a long time.”
Here’s where we have Bam Adebayo going in our latest NBA mock draft:
11. Charlotte-Bam Adebayo, PF, Kentucky, 6-9, Fr.
With an NBA ready body, Adebayo is extremely physical in the paint but his all-around offensive game needs time to develop. The Hornets lack an inside presence with his physicality and tenacity on the glass. Go here for more on Adebayo
