The NBA team who’s hashtag is “Defend the Land” welcomed one of the bravest people who certainly does so in the truest sense. May is National Military Appreciation Month, and with that, one Military veteran was honored as part of Cleveland Cavaliers Heroes Night, thanks to Crown Royal, a brand with some solid Cavs’ associations.
Officer Darron Lewis was treated to a VIP experience including watching the pre-game shoot around from the bench, receiving a signed jersey, meeting former Cleveland Cavaliers star, Campy Russell, and an embroidered, personalized Crown Royal bag.
Enjoy some of the photos Cleveland Cavaliers fans:
Officer Lewis lost part of his leg and shattered every bone in the other after he was struck with an IED while serving in Afghanistan in 2012. Lewis underwent extensive rehab and now resides in Cleveland and periodically practices with the Cleveland Cavaliers Wheelchair team.
His guest for the night was his brother who also serves in the United States military and recently returned from Japan.
Last year Cleveland finally evolved beyond being just Believeland, as the Cavaliers finally ended the city’s infamous and well publicized 52 year drought. We were all witness as Lebron James and company brought those beliefs to fruition.
To celebrate point guard Mo Williams gifted bottles of Crown Royal XR to the entire 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers roster. More on that here.
