Portland Trail Blazers Point Guard Damian Liliard has, as we all do, his share of Twitter antagonists. Or as I call them “keyboard tough guys.” It’s easy for a lot of people to shoot their mouths off when they’re ensconced safely behind a computer; miles away from the person their antagonizing.
It’s comes with the territory in the social media age. Especially so if you’re a high profile person.
Damian Lillard was the sixth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and 2012-13 NBA Rookie of the Year. So he’s very high profile. I’m sure he gets a lot of annoying Twitter users spewing hate at him, and I’m sure he ignores 99% of them. However, this specific incident, addresses in the video interview below was WAY out of bounds.
Therefore, Lillard rightfully responded and put this jerk in their place.
Damian is very proud of the charity work he does with special needs kids. It takes a certain kind of low life to mock a celebrity athlete for doing good works in his spare time. Kudos to the Blazers guard and Oakland native for calling out unacceptable behavior like that.
