The Boston Red Sox sent Cleuluis Rondon, J.B. Wendelken, and Francellis Montas to the Chicago White Sox; OF Avisail Garcia was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Red Sox to the White Sox. So it’s a three team deal: Red Sox, White Sox, Tigers.
Just like we thought- White Sox GM Rick Hahn was only posturing when he said the team wants to “keep Jake Peavy and build around him,” a couple days ago. Obviously, that was only a “poker face” to build up the market value for Jake Peavy. No one who was sane believed that keeping Peavy would be a great idea for the White Sox to rebuild. Especially now with the trade value of Jake Peavy so high.
The White Sox get a top 100 prospect in Garcia; and they trade with the Red Sox yet again. Earlier this month, the Red Sox acquired Matt Thornton from Chicago. So while dealing with the Red Sox has been frequent, it’s pretty rare for Chicago to trade within the division; especially the Detroit Tigers. The last time? Former GM Kenny Williams.
Next to go? Alex Rios and Alexei Ramirez probably. Maybe the Red Sox will want them too. Avisail Garcia, 22, is hitting .380 (65-171) w/ 7 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 6 HRs, 27 RBI and 32 runs scored over 39 games combined this season. Bryan Villareal was sent from Detroit to Boston
