The New York Yankees have made a series of minor moves these past few days, in advance of the preseason opener on Friday. The Yanks will take on the Philadelphia Phillies, February 24th at George Steinbreener Field at 1 pm eastern. Today, the Yanks send left handed pitcher Richard Bleier to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
America’s team was busy on Presidents Day too, as Monday February 20th saw the Yankees sign left handed pitcher Jon Niese to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League spring training. Niese will wear #47.
Also Sunday, President’s Day Eve saw New York Yankees minor league OF Billy McKinney granted an invitation to Major League spring training camp. He will wear #71 when he takes the field.
The Yankees will open the 2017 regular season at the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday April 2nd.
