The seminal 1978 film “Animal House” hasn’t exactly held up well over time. It’s still a hilarious classic, but I wouldn’t exactly describe it as timeless. There’s a couple scenes in that film which…let’s just say you can’t make those jokes today in the 2015 political climate. Most of the movie though was comic genius and the “Shout” scene is one that almost everyone can agree upon.
Today, in advance of tonight’s huge college football game between the Oregon Ducks and Michigan State Spartans (full game preview and prediction here) Nike unveiled this short film.
Celebrating the four decades of Nike being in bed with the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon Ducks being in bed with Nike, it’s a music video of Otis Day and the Knights performing the song “Shout.”
The video replicates the famous “toga party” scene with actors replaced by notable Ducks including: actor Ty Burrell, ESPN anchor Neil Everett, pro football legends and television personalities Ahmad Rashad and Dan Fouts; former pro football players Joey Harrington, Kenny Wheaton and Anthony Newman (current Ducks football commentator); decathlon world-record holder Ashton Eaton; Oregon track star Galen Rupp; professional football athletes Marcus Mariota, Dennis Dixon, JJ Birden, LaMichael James, Kenjon Barner and Brandon Bair; former Oregon track stars English Gardener and Mandy White.
A lot of “Animal House” was filmed at the University of Oregon and in the Oregon Ducks hometown of Eugene, Oregon.
