Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a goal called off on Saturday. It’s very notable because had he scored this past weekend, in his fourth competitive appearance for MUFC, he would have equaled a 91-year old record.
As it stands, he’s truly had a Theatre of Dreams kind of start at Old Trafford, and hence definitely earned some holiday time.
On top of the international break coming up, Ibrahimovic will get additional vacation time; United Manager Jose Mourinho revealed.
“At 34 years old, you need to rest. You cannot play 70 matches a season. So I give the other guys, who are not selected for the national teams, two days — and I give four days to Zlatan. I give holidays a la carte. It depends on the situation. And he is playing every match, every minute. So four matches, he played 360 minutes — four days off for the big guy.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic retired from international duty after the 2016 European championships, and didn’t go with Sweden to the Olympics.
