Cote d’Ivoire national team star and captain of Manchester City FC, Yaya Toure is to the surprise of everyone, staying at Etihad. Mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain hadstepped up their interest in Yaya Toure, who has widened his rift with Manchester City.
Toure has turned down a move to Manchester United says the Daily Mirror.
About a month ago, you heard all the reports that Yaya Toure might leave Man City because they didn’t give me a big enough birthday party/cake/card?
WTF?
This isn’t really about birthdays, this is about money. He doesn’t really care that much about a birthday, he cares about getting paid. But it’s clear that the chasm between Toure and the reigning Premier League Champions has now been resolved. At least temporarily.
Toure initially backed his agent’s comments (but the birthday faux paus) but has now told Sky Sports that he is looking forward to remaining at the Etihad Stadium for the forseeable future.
“They’ve always been good with me and my family,” Yaya Toure said. “I want to say [to the fans] that I will always honour my contract and stay as long as possible and don’t think about all the speculation they’ve seen saying I’ll be leaving. (h/t Goal)
“I think for what the fans have done for me, and the club as well, it’s a big pleasure to stay and continue and try to enjoy the next season.
“There are more important things than money because sometimes in life it’s been to be in a good way and healthy. That aspect is very important. The team is preparing well and we’ll try to win again next year.”
