The latest assessment on the future of Louis van Gaal beyond this season at Manchester United is great news for those still in his camp. Of course, these days the “LVG in” crowd are probably in fewer numbers than the “LVG out” crowd. The Sunday tabloids were pretty firm on the idea that Van Gaal is on solid footing at Old Trafford.
That wasn’t well received by many of the club’s supporters; and understandably so. Monday’s news will be even offensive to them.
The Independent and The Guardian are both reporting that Old Trafford will have talks with Van Gaal in the New Year and explore whether he wants to retire when his current deal ends next season, or instead, extend his regime.
Louis van Gaal has repeatedly said that he will honor his three year contract and that Manchester United will be his last job in football management. So it appears that not only will we see reinforcement of the status quo, but the situation might actually get turned up another notch.
Elsewhere the Daily Express claims that Van Gaal will not be under threat even if Manchester United crash out of the Champions League tomorrow night versus Wolfsburg.
