Manchester United signed Daley Blind for £14 million from Ajax, trying it repair the disaster in the back line right now. All in all, Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward spent more than £156 million this summer – almost as much as the club have spent in total over the previous five years. Here is Blind undergoing his medical at Old Trafford.
Also today, Blind picked up the Golden Shoe at the Dutch Player of the Year awards. Soon after his new club manager, and course country manager, LVG was presented with a lifetime achievement award for his services to the beautiful game.

United, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (MANU), has spent around $250 million on players since finishing seventh last season, with Argentina midfielder Angel Di Maria joining last week for a British-record fee of 59.7 million pounds (then $99 million).
Versatile Netherlands international Daley Blind completed his move from Ajax for 14 million pounds ($23 million) on Monday as Radamel Falaco’s deal was being closed.
Now the question is, what does Louis van Gaal do with Daley Blind and all of his new signings? Where does everyone play in the 3-5-2 system?
