Manchester United have revealed their travel roster for their UEFA Europa League tie at FC Zorya, and a lot of notable names were left out. The still injured defender duo of Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw will not be available, as expected.
However, the Thursday night clash will also see Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian left out as the trio are getting some rest. United need at least a point in order to advance to the knockout round. A loss, coupled with a Feyenoord win, would see the Red Devils eliminated from Europe this season.
That’s note-worthy as United remain nine points adrift of Manchester City for the fourth and final UEFA Champions League slot in the current Premier League table, so winning the Europa League outright might actually be their best bet back into the big boy tournament next season.
Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin have also been left of the traveling squad for this one, so the duo are currently reaching the same depths as Bastian Schweinsteiger (also omitted as he wasn’t even registered for the Europa League) when it comes to being frozen out under Jose Mourinho.
ODDS:
United- 4/11 Draw- 4/1 Zorya 17/2
