Sir Alex Ferguson takes on new coaching role with UEFA

Legendary former Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has a new UEFA coaching role. Michel Platini, UEFA ‘s President, announced it today. Sir Alex Ferguson had been working as a team ambassador and director since retiring from United.

According to Sun Sport, Sir Alex Ferguson also said today that David Moyes will not be sacked. So that’s something all the Moyes critics need to hear. Back to Sir Alex Ferguson and his new gig.

Michel Platini said: “I think the arrival of Sir Alex Ferguson will be very positive. Sir Alex will be chairman of the forum of elite coaches that meet every year. He will also be a member of the technical study group of the Champions League and the European Championship.’

On accepting the role, Sir Alex Ferguson said:

‘I hope can continue to help young coaches in particular in an industry which is becoming more difficult. The conference in Budapest recently where a lot of young coaches are there and tried to get the message across to them how difficult the industry is because they need to sacrifice they need to have a good philosophy in football and I hope my contribution at UEFA will be exactly that. I look forward to the challenge, I look forward to contributing in a big way and I thank Mr Platini for giving me this opportunity.’
