Man U. supporters have now turned some of their angst at MUFC icon Sir Alex Ferguson. And it’s easy to understand why as Fergie himself appointed David Moyes “the chosen one” as that controversial banner at Old Trafford says. Red Devils fans have been angry at the seemingly-in-over-his-head-Moyes for quite some time, but now there’s a Fergie backlash.
And it turns there’s anger and angst at Moyes from Sir Alex Ferguson too.
“I learned this week one of the agreements Fergie had with Moyes was that he wouldn’t disrupt the backroom staff,” broadcaster Richard Keys wrote on his blog. “Fergie was furious when he did.”
The former United boss wanted to ensure a smooth transition and told the then Everton boss it was in his interests to maintain the status quo at the club. But Moyes went back on the agreement and brought Steve Round, Chris Woods and Jimmy Lumsden with him from Everton while getting rid of Ferguson’s trusted assistant Mike Phelan and coach Rene Meulensteen. This certainly helps explain all the dysfunction this year at Old Trafford, and why regime change has been so disastrous. United have now list 3-nil to Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Is Moyes that bad? Did Sir Alex Ferguson not leave enough in the cupboard for him?
