Manchester United did not sign a single player in the winter transfer window, but they have brought in someone new for this summer already. Just like with Memphis Depay last year, the Red Devils made their first signing well before the transfer window opens. Just like with Depay, it’s a youngster.
Hopefully for Manchester United, it’s not a total flop like Depay.
Feyenoord youth Tahith Chong confirmed that he has joined Manchester United. Chong wanted to stay with his current club, but a new deal presented itself that he had to take. As Chong told Elf Voetbal: “It was my intention to stay at Feyenoord, but no plan was made for me. When I said I wanted to leave, they came up with a plan. That was too late.”
“Here and at Arsenal, young players get their chance earlier than at Chelsea or at Manchester City,” he said.
“United gave me a better feeling. You can feel it immediately when you walk in a club.”
