When it came to the Pep Guardiola derby, the sports books had it right all along. Manchester City were a heavy favorite all along over both Manchester United and Chelsea. Today, it was made official what we’ve known for a long while- the Bayern Munich Coach is coming to the English Premier League.
City Manager Manuel Pellegrini announced Monday that he will part ways with the club June 30th. City have confirmed that Guardiola will be his successor:

The deal Guardiola signed is for three years, and like the statement above reads, he had discussions for this position back in 2012. Guardiola will be replaced at Bayern by Carlo Ancelotti. Again, we all pretty much knew that City was going to land him, as Bet 365.com set the odds for Pep Guardiola’s next job as such:
Manchester City 1-5
Cheslea 5-1
Manchester United 10-1
Arsenal 12-1
So what will come of Pellegrini now? He’s accomplished a lot, and a coach like with his record for acquiring silverware will no doubt found a good list of potential suitors. It’s just that City have ridiculously high standards now. As Guardiola moves to the blue side of Manchester, the red side of Manchester can now forget about the idea of possibly landing Pep.
They probably already did, a long time ago. There was always some doubt as to the legitimacy of that story claiming United had a “Pep talk” with Guardiola in Paris a couple weeks ago.
As for Chelsea, they can focus on other candidates now.
