Manchester United currently reside on top of the Premier League table, and their recent run of success has made the early season drama of 2015 seem like ancient history right now. It was only a few weeks ago that headlines were dominated by the transfer saga of David de Gea, and Manager Louis van Gaal’s decision not to play him.
Then you had the “panic buy” criticism that surrounded the Anthony Martial deal, followed by the story of senior players confronting Van Gaal about his methods and philosophy.
At the same time, multiple ex-players who worked under Van Gaal at Old Trafford were ripping him publicly while the current team resided in seventh place. As we wrote at the time “winning cures everything” and that’s exactly what happened. All that critique of Van Gaal and United seems like a distant memory right now.
Morgan Schneiderlin believes that United have answered their critics via their performance on the pitch. With the Champions League victory yesterday, United have won four in a row across all competitions.
“I do feel we are improving,” the French midfielder said.
“At the start of the season people were talking about good results and not very good performances.”
“In the last few weeks I don’t hear this anymore, they don’t complain about the style of play or anything and that is because we have improved.”
United have won four in a row, but Schneiderlin admits that the team still has work to do.
“We can see that on the training pitch and we can see that in the games. We are much better on the ball, we are doing better things and sometimes we play very high quality football. But there are still some things we can improve.”
