Update: Current and former club mates of Manchester United Left Back Luke Shaw have vocally come to his support in this his time of need. Shaw’s former manager at Southampton, Mauricio Pochettino, told the media about the phone conversation he had with a very emotional Shaw yesterday.
And today United goalkeeper David de Gea and central defender Chris Smalling have Tweeted their support:
My thoughts and prayers are with @LukeShaw23 Hoping for a quick recovery and to be playing alongside him again as soon as possible! ??

Hector Moreno, the PSV Eindhoven Defender who inflicted this horrific injury upon Luke Shaw, has since apologized.
You have to feel for the 20-year-old defender. He’s dealt with a whole host of injuries since coming over to Manchester United from Southampton, and he’s missed a lot of time due to all those injuries. Today was yet another setback for Shaw as he suffered a broken leg in the first half of the UEFA Champions League group stage clash at PSV Eindhoven.

Luke Shaw is currently the number one trending term on Twitter in the United States. Many Twitter users are understandably upset that no penalty was given on the play. It’s even more gutting when you consider how well Shaw was playing lately, as he truly begun to settle in at Old Trafford.
As awful and devastating as this injury was, Shaw used the micro blogging platform to express something positive about this situation. The young England Defender, owner of the second richest contract for a teenager in British football history (teammate Anthony Martial is now first) Tweeted an inspirational message to his followers from his verified account.
Thank you everyone for your messages , words can't describe how gutted I am , my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger.

Adding insult to injury, PSV went on to win the match 2-1. Luke Shaw will be out for quite some time, but like he said on social media, he’ll come back stronger than ever.
