Louis van Gaal has hit back at Pep Guardiola’s stinging criticisms at Manchester United. If you don’t recall what he said, I’ve linked his brutal attack at the club here. Guardiola claimed that several of his players were sought after by United during the summer transfer window but they preferred to stay at Bayern Munich instead.
He also called out United by saying Old Trafford didn’t have enough money to purchase his best players.
Pep also claimed that his players do not want to come to the Premier League anyway. His comments had some substance when you factor in that the Red Devils do not have UEFA Champions League football to offer this year. Van Gaal, on the other hand says he has yet to be turned down by any player that he targeted in the transfer window.
No European football to sell? No problem. At least thus far the Iron Tulip claimed.
“Every player I have contacted wants to play for Manchester United,” Louis Van Gaal said.
“In spite of the fact that we are not playing in the Champions League this season, the players are still willing to come. It is unbelievable but it is because of the greatness of this club. They all believe in the project we have started now but I will say again that it has only just started. It still needs time.”
