Real Madrid made a managerial change today, and that new Manager is somebody other than Jose Mourinho. As has been previously reported, the Special One does not want to take a sabbatical. The third factor in this equation is Manchester United, who don’t likely to sack incumbent Manager Louis van Gaal any time soon.
In fact, it appears that Van Gaal might be on pretty solid footing for the time being. It all adds up to a lot of frustration for Mourinho.
Jose Mourinho’s camp are getting “frustrated” with the lack of movement regarding the Manchester United job, sources have told ESPN FC, and his representatives are beginning to investigate other options.
Mourinho has long wanted the Old Trafford job and it had seemed the time was finally right for him to get it, with the Portuguese parting ways with Chelsea just at the time when it seemed that Louis van Gaal was set to suffer the same fate at United after an awful December.
The report goes on to say that Man United Executive Vice Chairman Ed Woodward is reluctant to pull the trigger and replace LVG with Mourinho, even though some within the United leadership still want the Dutchman gone. Mourinho also supposedly turned down a return to Real because he’s holding out for the Old Trafford gig.
Adding to the frustration for Mourinho’s camp is the report that United still believe Ryan Giggs should be Van Gaal’s successor.
