Fredy Guarin was a big time target for both Manchester United and Chelsea in last year’s January transfer window, but if he was going to move, it likely would have been to Juventus. Tottenham Hotspur were also supposedly in the running.
It seems United boss Louis van Gaal has intensified his efforts to sign Inter Milan’s Colombian midfielder after Manchester United’s intended move for Juventus’ Arturo Vidal stalled yet again.
This from The Daily Star, back in August. And now today, the same publication reveals…
…that the move could be on again this January say with Milan keen to shift the 28-year-old off their books in an effort to reduce their massive wage will.
Fredy Guarin was rumored to be asking for 15 million €, but Manchester United didn’t want to spend more than 11 or 12 million Euro to acquire his services. So how much would it cost to add Guarin to the central midfield at Old Trafford? Some rumors put the price at £18 million. The Express picked up on the same story and cited £12 million “if they decide to firm up their interest.”
Supposedly, the move to Guarin is a reaction to Vidal talks with the Red Devils stalling out.
So it appears that Ed Woodward will give Louis van Gaal a big budget to work with again this upcoming transfer window.
