In April 2013, Manchester United sacked then Manager David Moyes. The Scotsman failed to even last a season at Old Trafford. “The Chosen One” by Sir Alex Ferguson was “The Jobless One,” but not for very long. Moyes received a very lucrative exit package and quickly landed on his feet in La Liga.
He was rumored to have been a candidate for many football head coaching gigs, including Sunderland and Celtic. However, Real Sociedad was the job he chose.
It didn’t go well. On November 9th 2015, he was officially out at his next gig after United. Today, it was learned that Moyes is now taking over at Sunderland. Sam Allardyce takes over for Roy Hodgson as England Manager, and thus Moyes will succeed Allardyce.

At Sunderland’s official website, a statement attributed to David Moyes reads: “I am delighted to have joined Sunderland. I am relishing the challenge and excited by the opportunity.”
“I have taken over a big British club, with a great support and I’m looking forward to working in the Premier League again. I look forward to continuing the good work done by Sam.”
How should Black Cats supporters feel about the Moyes appointment? His recent record doesn’t inspire much confidence.
The 52-year-old got Sociedad off to a horrendous start under Moyes. When he was sacked, they were in 16th place in the Spanish top flight, having accrued just nine points. Management had to make this move, as the club is dangerously close to the relegation zone.
David Moyes “led” United to a dreadful seventh place finish that left them out of Champions League in 2013-14. Had he stayed on, he just might have “led” Real Sociedad down to the Segunda Division.
Here’s the statement from Sunderland chairman Ellis Short:
He said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome David Moyes to Sunderland, who was by far and away our first choice.”
“He is a man whose football pedigree speaks for itself and is someone I have long admired. I have spoken with him on many occasions and I have always been hugely impressed. He was my number one managerial target for the last five appointments, but his desire to honor existing contracts meant we were not able to bring him to Sunderland previously. To be able to finally welcome him as our manager is fantastic news for the club.”

So get ready, Moyes is coming to the Stadium of Light. Maybe the results will be different this time.
