There’s been rampant speculation about who the next Manchester United Manager will be after Louis van Gaal. As much as supporters want him out now, all of the current talk indicates that he’ll see his contract out. There’s even been reports that Old Trafford is so happy with Van Gaal that they may even consider extending him.
Given how boring the team has been this season, pretty much no United fan wants to hear that!
We move on to the tabloid talk about who might succeed Van Gaal.
According to The Sun today, former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to wait with Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola for the Old Trafford job. Guardiola rumors have been trending all week, with some outlets claiming that United are willing and able to snub him. So who really knows what’s to be believed right now. The Independent also has a story on the potential future of the United managerial position.
The paper says that Carlo Ancelotti, 56, says he is prepared to wait until 2017 for a return to management – leaving open a move to Manchester United.
Van Gaal has said his current gig will be his last in management. He intends to manage next year and then retire.
So for ’17-18, it’s supposedly Guardiola or Ancelotti.
That’s the long term.
For the short term, well, The Sun has an item about that too: Manchester United are set to hand boss Louis van Gaal a transfer kitty of £70m ($105m) this summer, with the aim of attracting a world superstar to Old Trafford.
