Liverpool FC are currently on preseason exhibition tour in the United States, and yesterday saw the Reds coaching staff take on Stanford University. In the friendly versus the Stanford 11, Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp played striker.
You can watch him lead the line in the YouTube video below:
Okay, so it’s not exactly 2013-14, when LFC boasted a fearsome attack led by the three players with S last names: Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge. That runner-up finish season seems like a long time ago these days with Suarez sold to Barcelona, Sterling petulantly forcing his way out to Manchester City and Sturridge having his ups and downs as he struggles to find fitness and form.
However, this video is approximately the millionth reason to love Jurgen Klopp. Comedian and life long Liverpool die-hard John Oliver posted a video message on the LFC website calling for fans to purchase tickets to Liverpool’s preseason friendlies in America.
“Liverpool have one of the most entertaining managers in all of sport,” John Oliver said of Jurgen Klopp.
“Not only is he a sensational tactician, an inspirational figure, he’s also a funny, angry German, and that is the best kind of German there is. So if you want to go and see a guy losing his shit, even in preseason, usually preseason games are boring but that’s not the case here because he’s not having it.”
“He does not understand not doing things at full pace all the time.”
