Liverpool FC midfielder Joao Teixeira has officially agreed to a deal to join Porto FC after he turned down a new contract extension at Anfield. The chance to come home was an opportunity that Teixeira just couldn’t pass up, and thus ended his career in Merseyside. This transfer is his “dream” move.
“I am from the north, and so to be able to wear the blue and white has always been a dream for me,” said Teixeira following news that he had signed a four-year deal with FC Porto. “Now I can work at my club in my region and my country. I had other offers but do not want anything other than to wear the blue and white.” (transcript Liverpool Echo)
Teixeira, who’s playing time was limited under Jurgen Klopp, is moving to a new destination where he should get more opportunities. Joao Teixeira started his career with Braga before later playing with Sporting Lisbon and then coming to Liverpool in 2012 for £850,000.
