Liverpool advanced to the fourth road of the FA Cup earlier in the week, out-lasting Plymouth Argyle 1-0. They face Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday, hoping for their first Premier League win of 2017.
Liverpool won the first meeting this season at Swansea by a 2-1 score line.
The big news coming out of the Liverpool defense is that Nathaniel Clyne should be fit to go against Swansea after missing two games with sore ribs.
Trent Alexander-Arnold played well in Clyne’s absence and that will be big for Liverpool moving forward. The rest of the defense should remain the same, with Simon Mignolet starting in net, along with center backs Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan, and left back James Milner.
Liverpool played with a diamond midfield against Manchester United and will probably go to it again against Swansea.
It fits the Reds better right now with Sadio Mane out in the African Cup of Nations.
Jordan Henderson starts in his No. 6 role, with midfielders Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum ahead of him. The attacking mid should be Philippe Coutinho, who started against Plymouth Argyle and seems to be getting his legs back as he returns from his injury. The forwards will be Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge.
If Liverpool goes back to their 4-3-3 formation, Emre Can would most likely slot into the midfield, with Adam Lallana playing in a more advanced role and Sturridge coming off the bench.
