Doing a world football power rankings is quite the ambitious project. There are so many leagues to watch and analyze, but as you would expect the top ten would always be all Europe.
Shaka Hislop of ESPN FC releases a power rankings every week, and earlier this season, Liverpool, on the strength of their deep run in the Europa League tournament, finally made an appearance on the chart last week. In reaching the Europa Final, the Reds checked in at #9
This week they have fallen out, having been beaten 3-1 by Sevilla in the Europa Final. Liverpool were replaced in the top ten by Arsenal, who now inhabit the bottom spot. Sevilla moves up from #10 to take the slot LFC had last week. In case you missed it, some Liverpool and Sevilla fans got into several vicious fist fights before the match, and you view the videos at this link.
Bayern Munich are #2 (they were fourth last week) and Atletico Madrid drop from second to fourth. Their neighbors and rivals Real Madrid are third, after claiming the top slot last week.
Barcelona top the chart this week, with Juventus completing the top five. Paris Saint Germain are sixth, league champions Leicester City 7th and Benfica are 8th.
