Liverpool got a 4-1 win over Stoke City on Tuesday night, and now face Manchester City in a battle of top-4 sides on New Year’s Day. This match against City is the first of two games in three days for the Reds (gotta love the festive season fixture congestion, right?).

Jurgen Klopp ruled out Joel Matip for the City contest, so barring late setbacks, it will be Lovren and Klavan in the center. Clyne has played every minute in the Premier League this season and Milner will also start against his former club.
There are no new adds to the Liverpool injury report this week. That is the good news, but the bad news is that no players will be leaving it either.
There was hope that Philippe Coutinho would be available for the City match, but he has been ruled out of the next two games. Joel Matip also out, as we said before, due to the ankle injury that he is still recovering from. Marko Grujic also isn’t expected to be available as a bench option.
