The Brendan Rodgers hot seat just continues to warm. His job appears more insecure than ever as Liverpool needed to go to penalty kicks in order to beat Carlisle United in the League Cup today. Carlisle is a tenth place side in League Two, the fourth tier in the English football system. Ouch!
Rodgers may be on his last legs at Anfield, but thus far LFC deny approaching Carlo Ancelotti as his replacement.
Here’s the latest from the “World Wide Leader:”
“Liverpool have made no approach to Carlo Ancelotti over the manager’s job at Anfield despite reports that he had been sounded out to replace Brendan Rodgers, sources have told ESPN FC.”
Liverpool have taken just eight points from their first six Premier League games, and currently reside in 13th place. The Sun claimed in May that Ancelotti would jump at the chance to manage Liverpool, for what it’s worth.
The former Real Madrid boss is currently out of football after having been sacked by Los Blancos last year. He led Chelsea to a Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010. Ancelotti also led Real Madrid to an unprecedented 10th Champions League title in 2014.
The Italian has also has previous experience managing Juventus, Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
