Kansas freshman Joel Embiid has is holding a news conference at 3 PM CST. It is largely expected that he will declare his intentions to enter the NBA Draft; where he very well could be the #1 overall pick. As long as he passes his physical and his health checks out.

His teammate Andrew Wiggins could also be the #1 pick, and both face stiff competition from Duke Forward Jabari Parker. Although the Blue Devils big man may return to school.

According to Zags Blog:

Joel Embiid will announce his plans to enter the NBA Draft during a press conference with Kansas coach Bill Self on Wednesday at 2 p.m central time, multiple sources told

A couple weeks ago, a report leaked Joel Embiid would declare for the NBA draft. However, Embiid denied the accuracy of that report at the time. Interesting domino theory here, if Joel Embiid leaves, we might see uncommitted big man Myles Turner, by some accounts the #2 rated recruit in the nation, commit to Kansas. Turner, a McDonad’s All-American, is waiting to see where everything shapes out.

Ether way, the Jayhawks will probably have someone to pair with #3 rated recruit Cliff Alexander, to give them a “twin towers” of sorts next year. Not to mention they add another McDonald’s All-American in Kelly Oubre.
