According to a media advisory from the Indiana Pacers. Forward Chris Copeland suffered a knife wound to his left elbow and abdomen early this morning in New York City. He is currently in stable condition at a New York hospital and the Pacers will provide updates as available.
Various media are reporting that Copeland and a woman suffered the stab wounds late last night at the 1 OAK club.
Atlanta Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha (formerly of the Chicago Bulls) were taken into custody for preventing police from setting up a crime scene. (h/t Bleacher Report)
Rocco Parascandola of the New York Daily News reports an argument outside the club shortly before 4 a.m. allegedly caused Shezoy Bleary to pull out a knife and attack. He was later arrested by police after injuring three people:
The man who was arrested, Shezoy Bleary, 22, pulled out a knife and stabbed Copeland, 31, and slashed 28-year-old Katrine Saltara, described by investigators as Copeland’s wife, in the arm and leg, the sources said.
The second woman, Catherine Somani, 53, was slashed in the abdomen, the sources said.

“We are aware that Chris Copeland was injured early this morning in New York City. We are still gathering information and will update when we know more. Our thoughts are with Chris and those injured.”
