Illinois football coach Tim Beckman announced today that sophomore running back Dami Ayoola was dismissed from the team for, wait for it…..wait for it………yes, “violation of team rules.”

The phrase that is to college football what “upper body injury” and “lower body injury” are to the NHL.

Ayoola was third string on the Illinois football depth chart behind starter Donovonn Young and second stringer Josh Ferguson. A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ayoola played in 11 games as a freshman in 2012. He did not play in the Illinois football season-opening narrowest of victories over Southern Illinois.

Ayoola really only had significant playing time in last year’s 44-0 blowout of Charleston Southern (or was it college of Charleston). In the blow out of a FCS foe, he put on a really impressive spin move on a highlight reel play during garbage time. But other than that, I don’t remember anything about the Ayoola era of Illinois football.
