The Manchester United career of central defender Victor Lindelof hasn’t gotten off to the best start, but he has shown some glimpses of his potential at times. United’s home win over Brighton & Hove Albion was rather ugly, but it still counts as three points in the stands, the same as if they had won 6-0 or with a scoreline similar to that.
Great teams get wins when they’re having really off days, and it definitely shows a statement of the strength in your side when your team can get a W despite playing far from your best. Lindelof believes United showed that strength yesterday.
The first acquisition of the summer transfer window knows that finding a way to achieve victory despite just not having it is crucial, as tougher road tests loom. important ahead of the upcoming trips to Watford and Arsenal.
“It was a tough game. We got the three points and that is the most important thing. We didn’t play our best game today but we got the win and that shows strength,” the Swedish defender who came over from Benfica for £31m said (transcript Daily Mail).
“We tried to do our best out there, we tried to play our game but it didn’t work out so good today, but we still got the win and that is the most important thing.”
After the game, United Manager Jose Mourinho lamented that the issue with the Red Devils was playing too many attackers. Mourinho admitted that he put too many forwards out on the pitch.
