It’s another international break and thus, kind of a slow time when it comes to big headlines, but there’s still a whole lot of important Tottenham Hotspur FC news items out there. Here are links to some of the more relevant Tottenham news stories currently circulating on the internet.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham “are among the clubs thinking of triggering the £3 million release clause in the contract of Jonny Evans if West Bromwich Albion are relegated.”
“With West Brom bottom of the Premier League table, 10 points adrift of safety, it seems certain that Evans will be available for a cut-price fee in the summer.”
The article mentions that Arsenal and Manchester City are also interested in the Northern Ireland international, who, if he moves to Tottenham, could serve as the replacement to Toby Alderweireld, who seems somewhat likely to move on this summer. We covered Aldweireld and his uncertain future in most recent Tottenham news collection post.
-The FA Cup represents the final chance for both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United to claim a trophy this season. Ahead of their tournament semi-final clash next month, Lloris put United on notice of Spurs ambitions.
“We want a trophy because I think we deserve a trophy,” Lloris said while away on international duty with France. “It’s just because we play such attractive football.”
“I think people enjoy the way we play because we are a very positive team with a lot of energy.”
“The way we play football is a bit risky but we create a lot of chances. We need to step up a level every time that we can and we still have a good opportunity with the cup.”
“I think we are going in the right way. We need to win trophies, obviously, but step by step we will arrive. We have no doubt about that.”
