Tottenham Hotspur head into the international break tied with Manchester United for second place in the Premier League table, but behind the Red Devils in the goal differential tie-breaker. They’ll next face Arsenal in league play, with the north London derby 11 days from now. In the meantime, here are some news links.
-Dele Alli missed Sunday’s narrow win over Crystal Palace along with Hugo Lloris and Toby Alderweireld, and he’ll sit out England’s friendlies against Brazil and Germany.
However, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino expects the forward will be ready to face the Gunners.
“Dele Alli felt something in his tendon in his posterior against Manchester United, close to his hamstring,” Pochettino said.
“He played 90 minutes against Real Madrid but it is only a very small thing. It was a risk for him to play today but for Arsenal he will be ready to play.”
-Meanwhile both of the Harrys, Harry Kane and Harry Winks, have been ruled out for the international break. Kane has a minor hamstring problem, while Winks suffered a twisted ankle.
-Finally, ESPN’s Taylor Twellman is reporting that former Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel, will now have his first club head coaching job, as he is set to lead the New England Revolution of the MLS. Friedel holds the record for consecutive starts in the Premier League at 310 over eight years. The 46-year-old had managed the USA U19s.
