Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier opened the scoring for his side today in their 2-0 win over Burnley. It was the first time the home side had suffered defeat in their home venue since late November. Dier was proverbially “breaking” Twitter today due to his go-ahead, and eventually game-winning goal, but the real excitement on Saturday is over renewed hope and revitalized optimism for the Premier League title race.
Dier and his teammates are now just seven points off the top of the table from Chelsea, because the Blues shockingly lost at home to Crystal Palace today.
Here is video of the goal Eric Dier scored at Burnley on Saturday:

Of course, Spurs still face a very uphill climb for the league title, but entering today there was not really any true hope. Things seem to have totally changed now, and Spurs fans are currently going crazy on social media with #COYS (Come On You Spurs) trending. A real, bonafide title chase is good not just for the Spurs community, but for the neutrals, and the league as a whole. It could make April and May a lot more interesting.
Eric Dier overcame a so-so first half, which saw some mistakes, to become one of the biggest heroes of the Premier League weekend.
