Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli was reprimanded today, as he received his punishment for the first red card of his career. Spurs will be without Alli for their next three European matches. Tottenham crashed out of UEFA Champions League early, and then once relegated to Europa League, have since been eliminated from that competition.
Alli was booked for his deplorable tackle on KAA Gent’s Brecht Dejaegere in their 2-2 draw, which saw Spurs eliminated from Europe’s consolation bracket on aggregate. According to Dejaegere, Alli did apologize to him after the incident.
Alli is obviously not a player who gets in trouble a whole lot, but he did find himself in hot water again at the end of the last Premier League season. The Football Association handed Alli a three match ban for Spurs final three contests in 2016-17, charging him with violent conduct.
Dele Alli received the punishment because he punched West Brom’s Claudio Yacob; here below is the video of the incident:

Before that match, Alli proudly showed off his PFA Young Player of the Year award. I guess it’s a good thing that he did, because this violent conduct charge ended his season. What a shame for his campaign to end like that, given all that he accomplished. The Dele Alli Euro ban will be enforced next season, as Spurs are in great shape to reach Champions League next year.
At this link you can see how favorable their odds are, with Tottenham currently sitting in second place; seven points ahead of fifth place Manchester United.
