Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he has no insecurity about his job right now. He even went so far as to call the “reports” claiming he’ll be sacked if United lose at home to Tottenham Hotspur just “blatant lies.” Yes, three Premier League managers have been canned in the last two weeks, but Solskjaer isn’t worried about joining them in the ranks of the unemployed.
“I am good. Absolutely no problem. Sometimes you laugh when you read stories about what I’ve said and stuff. At least I know the sources everyone is talking about aren’t sources, they are just made up, blatant lies,” Solskjaer said.
The Norwegian made some bizarre comments on Sunday, following the draw with Aston Villa, about not having concern in regards to United’s place in the table. The side currently sits closer to the relegation zone than the top four, and this is something that just can’t be allowed to happen at Old Trafford.
“Football is a results business. We’re not happy, we know we can do better and we are working hard,” Solskjaer added. “The work is always geared on us improving but we’re not getting all the results we’ve deserved.”
OGS added that he talks to United EVP Ed Woodward regularly, and therefore there hasn’t been any emergency crunch talks.
“We speak all the time so it’s not like knee jerk suddenly now we need to talk,” Solskjaer said.
“We speak a few times every week so it’s continually progressing, the plans we’ve put in place, the rebuilding we know we started. We made some decisions that were necessary and now of course we’re not happy where we are, but we will continue working.”
Solskjaer also added that Paul Pogba is ruled out for tomorrow night’s match while Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay face late fitness tests.
