Neither Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, nor star winger Mohamed Salah, have any fear when it comes to facing Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. Of all the remaining eight teams in the competition, just Barcelona have better odds than Manchester City of winning it all.
Liverpool’s odds are only the sixth most favorable. Despite being the underdogs, Klopp says he knows what his side needs to do in order to pull out the upset. Salah isn’t fazed by the prospect of facing City again.
“I don’t believe that City have always been superior to other clubs this season in the Premier League – despite what everyone says. We have beaten them for a start,” Salah told the Daily Mirror, before then stating how he doesn’t far any team in remaining in the tournament.
“The Champions League always depends on the draw, but we don’t fear any rival, whoever they are. We’re in the quarter-finals and have the same chances of winning as each of the other seven teams.”
“There are many big clubs still in the competition but you have to remember Liverpool is a great club in Europe too. In these knockout ties, anything can happen,” said Mohamed Salah, who manager Jurgen Klopp says is on his way to achieving Lionel Messi level in form.
Salah, who’s transfer market value has increased 84% this season according to CIES, maintains that he wants to stay At Anfield for the long term. Like any elite star athlete, the Egyptian international would rather focus on team, not individual accomplishments.
He has previously promised a trophy this season, and also said that he came to Anfield to win league titles.
Now Mohamed Salah has made another bold statement, saying Liverpool can win the Premier League next season.
“City have played well this season, especially in the decisive moments in the Premier League,” Salah added. “but our challenge is to catch them and I believe Liverpool is capable of winning the title next season. We need to keep working and improving.”
