As Marouane Fellaini recovers from a knee injury, he discussed his with future with Manchester United to Belgian publication Humo.
The midfielder will see his current United deal expire at the end of the season, but he is already free to negotiate with foreign clubs come New Year’s Day. The Belgian expects United to come back with another offer for him, but admits he’s still uncertain about continuing on at Old Trafford.
He turned down the first offer in September, and even if he receives another offer, he still can’t make any guarantees that he will take it.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I do have something in mind, but I cannot say anything about this yet,” Fellaini said to Humo.
“If Manchester didn’t want me anymore, they would have told me. They made an offer and they will likely make me another one. Whether I will accept that I am not sure. Those things don’t happen overnight.”
The Belgian was the only player added during the one summer transfer window that David Moyes was in charge at United (2013). While he has endured a lot of ups and downs at United under Moyes and then Louis van Gaal, he has renewed his career under Jose Mourinho. It’s certainly not a secret how much Mourinho prefers Fellaini in selection, and admires the qualities that the 30-year-old brings to his side.
Fellaini later added:
“This is my 10th season in England. Aside from my first experience at Manchester I only had good moments. Five years at Everton, five years at Manchester. I like the stability. It takes a couple of years before you build relationships. I know everyone by now — that is nice.”
Fellaini’s knee injury has kept him out of the last nine games.
