Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a promising future in entertainment once his playing days are over. Of course, it’s going to be awhile before he needs to find a post-football job, but he’s already established himself as a captivating showman.
He has the substance to back up his style too, as today saw Ibra named to the PFA Player of the Year Award short list.
Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante join the Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in this elite group, which is rounded out by Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, Everton‘s Romelu Lukaku and Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
Just two weeks ago Ibrahimovic called himself a lion among humans, and stated his desire to get into acting, one day becoming perhaps the next James Bond or Jason Bourne.
In the past, Zlatan has used many different analogies on himself, from Napoleon Bonaparte to a fine wine.
Last weekend, the comparison he made was Benjamin Button.
Ibra took his previous “like a fine wine, I get better with time” analogy and raised it to movie character Benjamin Button, an individual who ages in reverse.
The mercurial Swede, who turns 36 in October, had a goal for United today, giving him 17 goals in league play this season. United also received scoring strikes from Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, going on to crush last Sunderland 3-0.
“I train hard, I believe in myself and I know what I am able to do,” Ibrahimovic said to Sky Sports. “I’m not worried. The older you are, the more experienced, the more intelligent and you don’t waste energy on things you don’t need. I feel like Benjamin Button. I was born old and will die young.”
