It’s official- Zlatan Ibrahimovic had one season at Manchester United, and there will not be a second. Granted his release this past week, it’s a mystery where he will go next. Saturday brought multiple reports that he joined the L.A. Galaxy of Major League Soccer, but those were debunked.
Ibrahimovic could still join the Galaxy this summer, but all we saw today was a bunch of media outlets jumping the gun. The L.A. Galaxy have a history as the glamor franchise of MLS, as they consistently land the biggest stars from across the pond.
Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, Ashley Cole and Robbie Keane all once joined the Galaxy, and that could end up being a great fit for Ibra. The other team in Los Angeles, LAFC, could be a proper landing spot as well. The city of Los Angeles seems like such a natural fit for Ibrahimovic and his ego as well.
The timing works too as Zlatan’s knee rehabilitation will keep him out until early 2018, and MLS begins their season in March. His former United teammate, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has already publicly advised him to join him in MLS.
German and French clubs are interested too.
Chamois Niortais took the “let’s get this going viral on social media route.” The tweet below translates to: “how many retweets would it take to make this happen?”

Hertha Berlin made an attempt to woo Ibrahimovic on Twitter, in a very humorous self-deprecating way.
No contract at @ManUtd – we've great fans, but still no cash: BUT YOU CAN WIN @bundesliga_de for 1st time 🎉 Think about it @Ibra_official pic.twitter.com/4mx0rEmMXr
