Wayne Rooney is going back to Everton and apparently Manchester United are fine with receiving nothing in return from him.
Kicking that up another notch, United, according to the BBC, will even subsidize part of his wages. This deal could get done over the weekend, and apparently this is the dignified, respectful exit that we read about happening once the deal is finalized.
The BBC writes that “United will waive a fee and may also fund part of Rooney’s £13m wages. He is unlikely to be part of the United party who leave for their pre-season tour of the United States on Sunday.”
“Roo,” “Wazza,” “The Wonder Boy” or “The White Pele” became football’s most expensive teenager way back in 2004 when he signed a £27 million deal to leave Goodison Park for the Theatre of Dreams.
13 years later, the news of United and Everton reaching an agreement on Romelu Lukaku is dominating the global football discussion today. History repeats itself as again you have a major deal surrounding a forward leaving Everton for United.
Although Wayne Rooney will be heading the other way, it’s been reported by numerous outlets that Roo will actually not be any part of the Lukaku transaction.
