Manchester United starting eleven prediction time again! Yes three matches in six days, crazy isn’t it! It’s finally a return to league play as Manchester United host Arsenal tomorrow afternoon. The Red Devils have a ridiculous amount of injuries. The number of players out is just astonishing at this point.
We still don’t know how serious the setbacks are for two of United’s most important players, Anthony Martial and David de Gea.
Word is that neither player’s injury is all that serious, so we just went ahead and included both in our predicted first team. Of course, we will be updating this again before kick off so we anticipate making a couple of adjustments between now and then.
Here’s our predicted starting XI that we’re guessing Louis van Gaal will be trotting out there. Side note, Van Gaal today referred to the speculation regarding the idea that Jose Mourinho will take his place as an “absolute scandal.”
Anthony Martial
Memphis Depay Juan Mata Jesse Lingard
Michael Carrick Ander Herrera
Guillermo Varela Chris Smalling Daley Blind Marcos Rojo
David de Gea
Chris Smalling hopes to return for this one, and face the club that he supported as a boy. Here’s more on that.

ESPN FC’s Soccer Power Index forecasts the match as such:
United win- 38% Arsenal win- 32% Draw- 30%
Also, Manager Louis van Gaal gave his weekly press briefing today. You can watch the video at this link.
